We got some snow here in Wilmington, DE yesterday and today.

Maui was not impressed by what little snow we actually did end up getting.

philly.com can't say Pissed Jeans, Fucked Up in concert preview

Site previews upcoming Pissed Jeans and Fucked Up concerts in Philly, but censors bands names.

Fucked Up I can see ... but Pissed Jeans? They really can't say Pissed?!

Crowd-pleasing punk in two different styles

Stair climb training: 50 floors in 19:20

Hit the gym tonight and went straight to the step machine.

I clocked in 19:20 to get up 50 floors.

While the step machine is good prep, it's nothing really close to what it's actually like to climb up all those flights of stairs.

Why am I training to walk up stairs?

Glad you asked:

I'm doing the Climb the Tower stair climb in Philly again this year.

The hard part: I climb 50 flights of stairs.

The easy part: You sponsor me and help me raise funds.

Proceeds go to the American Lung Association.

I am looking for 50 people to sponsor me for just $2.00.

That way I can meet the $100 fund raising minimum.

OK, I want to sponsor you McG!

These are the Days: Austin punk chronicled

This looks really cool!

Matt Stokes' "these are the days" is the result of Stokes' close work with communities connected to Austin's music scene and his extensive research into anti-establishment musical genres, particularly punk rock.

Investigating the dichotomies expressed within earlier and later punk communities, the exhibition includes a 16mm film production, an original audio recording, and a collection of ephemera from the 1970s and 1980s related to the punk, post-punk, and DIY movements in Austin."

Where to buy punk records in Southern California

Looking for punk rock vinyl in SoCal?

Here's Jason Gelt's list.

Many mailorder faves mentioned as well.

McG recommended listen: Wire - '154'

Really amazed every time I listen to this album.

Might be my fave Wire album of all time.

Mogwai - "Punk Rock"

Audio from Mogwai's song "Punk Rock" from the album "Come On Die Young" Synced with video of the Iggy Pop Interview footage with Peter Gzowski.

Stereolab - Percolator

Bummed I didn't get to see Stereolab in San Diego as planned last fall.

Here's a great live version of "Percolator."

Love the beat on this song.

Will you sponsor McG for just $2.00?

Animals rescued at kennel fire, given shelter at Buckley's Tavern

Not that I need one, but here's a reason to visit Buckley's Tavern in Centerville.

From delawareonline.com:
"Buckley's Tavern became a temporary animal shelter Thursday evening after the neighboring Centerville Veterinary Hospital caught fire.

Laura Greeley and Laura Nilsen, both of Chadds Ford, Pa., were returning home with another friend when they saw black smoke rising from the veterinary hospital on Kennett Pike shortly after 5 p.m.

Greeley said she ran to Buckley's to ask for help, and several restaurant employees joined in the rescue effort. The restaurant, which Greeley said was hosting a private event on the second floor, took in about 25 animals, mostly dogs."
