Descendents - Fun Fun Fun Fest 2010

Here are Descendents at Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, Texas 2010.

Pro-shot, black and white.

Seems like this might have been filmed for possible incorporation into Filmage? Just a guess.

Here's Maui with one of his favorite records, "Photos of Photos" by Carlton Melton.

Your instinct is there for a reason

Whenever I need advice or guidance on an issue, I'll ask someone I respect, be it a mentor, a friend or my wife.

Bouncing ideas off of other people always helps me through the thought process. But when it really comes down to it, I know I can always trust my instinct

Nick Drake - "Bryter Layter" Box Set (2013)

Picked up the 2013 reissue of Nick Drake's 1970 album, "Bryter Layter."

I opted for the box set edition, which is more than double than what the standard version goes for.

And really, you don't get that much more bang for your buck.

Here's what is inside the box set:

The box itself is very sturdy. The extras are pretty skimpy and include:
  • A replica of a set list
  • A double-sided concert bill with show listings on one side and band bios including Nick Drake bio for one of the shows
  • A folded shop poster for the Bryter Layter album
Again, not a lot of extras to justify the expense. That said, Nick Drake vinyl seems to consistently increase in value. Plus it's nice to have it in beefy packaging. But there's not much to justify getting the box.

The album itself is good. The John Wood remastering is excellent and you get several download versions including a 24/96 lossless version, plus an MP3 dub of the album from Nick Drake's family collection.

The jacket has the weird texture to it, which is nice touch.

The music speaks for itself. This album has the most orchestration and arrangements of Nick Drake's three albums. Several really amazing songs.

Apparently this is already out of print, but Amazon has it as of the time of the publishing of this blog post.

Dave Lombardo of Slayer at Yankee Stadium

Here is drummer Dave Lombardo performing at Yankee Stadium with Slayer on September 14, 2011.

I love how close up this is and how hard Dave wails. And then the camera pulls back and you see... Yankee Stadium.

Delaware Fun-A-Day 2013

Here are some pics and vines from Delaware Fun-A-Day that happened on Friday, May 3, 2013 in Wilmington, DE.

The goal of the event was to invite people to create art of all styles and aptitude and have fun.

One of my favorite things was a bunch of different tip signs that used pop culture references:

They even included a Descendents reference!

I really dug Jason Olney's illustrations:

I was really impressed by the designs that Johan Way came up with:

Loved these colorful and playful designs:

My niece helped my sister take pictures of their dog, Warren.

Here is K with my niece at Delaware Fun-A-Day:

Here is a short slideshow of pics I took at Delaware Fun-A-Day:

Here's a one-minute video that shows how much art there was and how many people showed up to Delaware Fun-A-Day.

A Dog's Life - Charlie Chaplin (1918)

Take one of the greatest performers of all time and a bunch of dogs and make a movie out of it.

That's what Charlie Chaplin did in 1918 in "A Dog's Life."

Chaplin wrote, produced and directed this film which co-stars Scraps.
