I think I really like The Besnard Lakes
I've heard their song "Disaster" on Sirius 26 Left of Center several times now and each instance I think ... wow, that is _really_ exceptional.
They kinda remind me of Galaxie 500 as well as Damon and Naomi, Sigur Ros and The Beach Boys with perhaps even a hint of Spacemen 3 or Spiritualized.
I just ordered their album, "The Besnard Lakes are the Dark Horse" on vinyl.

... for April Fool's day. Oh well.
Farmer's Market was kind of a bust this weekend. Didn't find any vinyl, although I did get a bunch of jazz CDs including:

My pal Dean, who is an old school jazz musician, will dig checking these out. Dean is in one of the nursing homes that I do pet therapy at. He's one of the coolest old dudes that I've met in a while.
I stopped by with a bunch of records to listen to the other day, but he was expecting visitors, so we didn't get to chill.
Speaking of old pals, Sarah found me on MySpace. Cool punker chick from '80s DE punk scene.
Watched Arabesque last night.
It's directed by Stanley Donen, who did the great film, "Two For the Road."
Cleaning up the house today (a.k.a. throwing away a bunch of crap).

If you're a punker with a Sirius satellite radio subscription, you MUST listen to the Cosmic Commander's Sonic Reduction!
It's on every Sunday night at 10:00 p.m. EST on Left of Center 26.
Cosmo, who is a veteran Philly punker, plays REAL PUNK ROCK.
I can't tell you how refreshing it is to hear classic U.S. bands like Negative Approach, Void, VKTMS and Sonic's Rendezvous Band along side of a bunch of Aussie bands such as Died Pretty, Scientists and The Victims.
Cosmo's show takes me back to the days of college radio in the 1980's, when out of nowhere, I would stumble upon a dude like Eddie Hacksaw broadcasting hardcore punk on a Philly station (WXPN, I believe, before they went lame).
The Sonic Reduction has that same amazing vibe of the excitement and passion of the underground music culture and people making cool music for the sake of making cool music.
The Sonic Reduction is a breath of fresh air - even for Sirius satellite radio. I can only hope more and more people tune in and turn on to some genuine punk rock and roll.

Mitch Hedberg tribute on Sirius
I got a pleasant surprise when I turned on Sirius this afternoon on my drive home from work. Raw Dog channel 104 did a two hour tribute to Mitch Hedberg featuring his wife Lynn Shawcroft and Doug Stanhope.
They played a lot of previously unheard Mitch stuff and told a bunch of stories of how great Mitch was. I tried calling in, but I got disconnected after 90 minutes on hold, which was a bummer.
Lynn sounded like a cool chick.
